HOMEMADE ENGLISH TOFFEE

This is what the mixture should look like – a medium tan color very similar to peanut butter.  Stop stirring and take the candy off the heat.The same thing goes for how finely or rough to chop the nuts.   We usually go somewhere in the middle between finely chopped and a rough chop.

HOMEMADE ENGLISH TOFFEE
Ingredients

• 2 Cups Butter (Sweet Cream, Salted)
• 2 Cups Sugar
• 1 Cup Chopped Nuts (Optional – Can be walnuts or pecans)
• 1 12oz. package of Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

Instructions

1. Melt butter in a medium sauce pan.
2. Add sugar and bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
3. Boil until medium tan color (like peanut butter).
4. Sprinkle chopped nuts on a cookie sheet.
5. Pour mixture over nuts and let set but not cool.
6. As soon as a little set, pour 1 package chocolate chips on the candy.
7. Spread chocolate chips when melted.
8. Sprinkle top of chocolate with chopped nuts.
